Esports have just made an important step towards becoming accepted as Olympic Games. The Korean eSports Association (KeSPA) has managed to persuade the Korean Olympic Committee (KOC) to accept eSports as an olympic Tier 2 sport, alongside Chess, Motosports and others.
The announcement has been made by the KOC at Seoul this monday, 27th of January.
The official acknowledgement by the Korean Committee is a big milestone for eSports, but they still need to pass the International Olympic Committee. If that happens, we could see Dota 2, League of Legends or StarCraft 2 at the Rio de Janeiro Games in 2016. Let’s hope it will happen.
