Evolve Performance Guide

The monsters are on the hunt, as am I for the graphical that this game has to offer. So will the performance be monstrous or dead on arrival?

Let’s start with the basic features:

  • API: DirectX 11
  • Vsync: Yes
  • Anti-Aliasing: Yes
  • Aspect Ratio: Adjustable
  • Locked FPS: No
  • Mouse acceleration: No
  • Adjustable FOV: No

This game has 2 perspectives: 3rd person for the monster and 1st for the hunters. Unfortunately, the hunters do not benefit from mouse acceleration or adjustable FOV.

The options are limited and their effect on the gameplay varies depending on what side you choose and on the map, as exemplified further down. As for the individual performance impact of each option:

If you want to know what all these settings mean see our graphical settings glossary.

When choosing the Monster side, you’ll be playing in 3rd person mode, each option has a negligible impact on the framerate (except for one, well get to that) and with everything maxed you’ll get over 50 FPS. Meanwhile, by playing as a Hunter in 1st person, each option maxed causes the FPS to vary between 45 and 55, mostly staying around 50. At maximum settings, I have encountered stuttering from time to time coupled with large framerate drops.

What I have observed above is not valid for every map in this game. On some maps, you will get consistent 55-60 FPS most of the time on max settings, although the stuttering will remain.

I would recommend playing with different settings to find the sweet spot where your rig can handle the game. Max out all settings only if your rig can handle it, because the stuttering can happen at critical moments and you can die because of them.

How does this game perform on your rigs? Did it make your imagination evolve? Or did it just end up in the tar pits?

Update: You can modify the FOV through this method.

My Testing Machine Specifications:

Final verdict for PC quality:

Evolve: GOOD (shite, mediocre, good, excellent).
